We are excited to introduce a new publication and parts kit designed for vintage South Bend Lathe owners in need of overhauling or cleaning up their 16” Industrial lathe. Our comprehensive rebuild package includes everything you need to restore your lathe to its original operating condition.

Our manual was meticulously created over a two-year period with the South Bend Lathe owner in mind. It covers the most frequently asked questions and provides methods for renovating a used lathe. Despite the fact that South Bend stopped producing these high-quality machines years ago, there are still thousands of serviceable lathes in home shops, small businesses, schools, and machinery dealers.

If you're looking for a good used South Bend lathe, our book offers information on all the different models that were made and how to evaluate the condition of a lathe before making a purchase. The 156-page instruction manual included in this kit is fully illustrated with almost 450 photographs and provides step-by-step instructions for disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and adjustment. Our rebuild kit is suitable for all South Bend Lathe 16" Models produced from ~1939 to 1978 (See Lathe Reference Photos). It includes all consumable parts necessary for rebuild, such as felt wicks, gaskets, wipers, and spindle capillary oilers.

The fully illustrated "A Guide to Renovating the South Bend Lathe" requires no prior machinery experience and is 100% Made in the USA by ILION Industrial Services LLC.

The kit is suitable for both single tumbler or double tumbler (1 lever or 2 levers) Quick Change Gearboxes (See Diagram).
